SSGOC to Rally for Community Before Tuesday Board of Trustees Meeting
HOMEWOOD, Ill. – March 8, 2021 —South Suburbs for Greenspace over Concrete (SSGOC) is holding a rally at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, immediately before the Homewood Board of Trustees meeting at Village Hall. The “Stand With Our Community” rally will allow residents to offer statements in opposition to the rezoning of the property formerly known as Calumet Country Club before the board votes on it in its 7 p.m. meeting.
After the Planning and Zoning Commission’s unanimous vote in opposition to the application to rezone the property, the Homewood Board of Trustees will make the final decision. SSGOC stands with Homewood and asks the trustees to make the best decision for the well-being of our community. Public comments may be offered at the meeting at Village Hall and can also be emailed to comments@homewoodil.gov by 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The “Stand With Our Community” rally offers residents, who were unable to give their comments last week, because of the final hearing’s weekday morning start time, or because they were not called on over Zoom, to have their voices heard and ask the village to stand with the Planning and Zoning Commissioners and the rest of the Southland community, including Hazel Crest officials, against this development.
Residents are invited to bring signs, chalk, and personal statements of opposition to Village Hall. Masks required and social distancing encouraged.
SSGOC maintains our call that Napoleon Haney, assistant village manager, be fired for attempting to use the village’s police force for political purposes.
